Day 21

Hi Everyone,

I’ve made it to day 21. Honestly, not a lot has changed over the last 7 days, however, I felt it was still worth noting my progress.

The recipient area is still quite pink and discoloured but is pretty much back to normal in terms of feeling and sensation. The donor area seems to be healing nicely, I have a few large areas of dried blood but very little pain or discomfort. The area between my donor and recipient area that was quite sensitive early last week has started to return to normal.
One thing I am questioning at this point is why the transplanted hairs haven’t fallen out yet. I thought they would all have shed by this point. Normal?

  1. Thanks for your post 🙂 You’re into the “stagnation” phase where not much will change for the next couple months.
Redness looks not bad. Usual for a fair skinned guy if I may say so.
Looks good for this stage of the game 🙂

  2. Thanks for the update Mr. P!
We generally say the transplanted hairs start falling at 10 to 14 days and will continue to for the next 8 to 10 weeks so it’s normal if you don’t have any shedding yet. Every patient is different so they heal differently. You should start noticing some shedding in the coming weeks 🙂

Thanks for posting! Glad to hear the mid part of your scalp is not feeling as sensitive, I can imagine it to be quite an unusual feeling. Looks good, very healthy and clean. Looking forward to your next update, happy shedding!

    Mr. P-

Congrats on making it to the first 3 weeks. Now if the 3 months would fly by just as fast huh? Everything looks great so far. Do not be surprised that your hair hasn’t shed fully yet. I had about 20% of my transplanted hairs that didn’t shed at all, and I have talked to others who estimated that they had 40% of their hair start growing from the beginning. Every patient’s head/physiology is different. I (like you) didn’t experience my big shed until close to 4 weeks…..so by my calculations (and if you follow the same course as me), you will be a little lighter on hair by the middle of next week! But your head looks awesome so far, and it’s going to be another great result by Dr. Rahal. Hang in there…….it’ll be growing out before you know it!! Looking forward to seeing your “Month 1” update and photos!

    Best,

    Mike

  5. Wow! I haven’t looked at the updates for a few weeks (I was away on holiday). Your hair looks great! It really is growing fast. I’m glad it’s not so sensitive to touch now, and this will keep on improving.
