Day 4

I’m officially four days in and I have to admit it feels like an eternity!

My head has officially doubled in size; my eyes are puffy and my recipient and donor area are extremely itchy. With that being said I’m really excited about things to come!

What I can say…

The donor area feels as though it is healing nicely. What I mean by that is that it is itchy… Very. Very. Itchy! The recipient area is also itchy and I have been fighting an internal battle all day not to scratch it vigorously.

The Swelling

I departed Ottawa this morning after spending a fabulous 5 days touring the area (pre and post transplant). My face this morning was fat since I woke up, not exactly what I was hoping for knowing I’d be passing through airport security only a few hours later.

However, 12 hours have passed and I am looking more like myself again. The swelling has gravitated from my eyes and forehead down to my cheeks giving me the classic “wisdom tooth surgery” appearance. I’m optimistic that within a day or so I will be back to normal.

  1. Thanks for your post!
Although it is VERY itchy, both donor and recipient look clean and appear to be healing well in these first few days.
Also, it looks like you are going to have an invisible scar!
Really looking forward to following your progress over the coming months 🙂

PS. bet it feels great to be back home!

  2. HAHA! Don’t worry the swelling and itching will go away soon enough. It is all part of the healing process. Your hairline looks very dense. I like the natural and youthful style. I can’t wait to read your updates in the following months! 😀

  3. Thanks for sharing! The itching is a very normal part of healing, like when we’re kids and we fall down and scrape a knee. All we want to do is scratch the scab off 😀

  4. Oh yes, the swelling.
I had my hair restoration done last year and your post just gave me a flash back.

I was still in my first week post-op and even though I was trying to stay in the recommended reclined position as much as possible, it was changeling while working on my laptop. I was leaning forward quite a bit to type, especially on night 2.

The morning of day 3, was quite a surprise… I could of easily passed for the father from potato head kids. Ok maybe it wasn’t that bad, but my ears and my eyes didn’t look right; the swelling had some fun with them.

I remember my family covering their mouths as they gasped when I came down for breakfast. I on the other hand, couldn’t stop laughing. I found it quite hilarious. In fact, the more I laughed the funnier I looked.

All this to say. I totally get it 😀
From your pictures, your results so far look great.
Your hairline is going to be amazing !!!

Look forward to seeing more of your updates.

    Hey buddy!!

You are going to be an entirely new man when all of your grafts start growing out. It’s going to look AMAZING!!!! The current state of your head just 4 days post-op is excellent. Dr. Rahal produces such clean work…..and as Tara mentioned, your scar is going to be almost nonexistent!! Add to the fact that your hair is a lot lighter than mine, and your results are going to help with the appearance of density that much more. I can’t wait to see how all of this starts looking about month 4, as that’s when my hair REALLY took off like a rocket!!

Your comments brought me back to my post-op days. I also went through the airport looking like a chipmunk…..and add to it a couple black eyes and a blue cap……hahahahaha! I saved the pictures as a souvenir!

It really is all downhill from here my friend. Once you get your sutures out and have that first proper shower, you’re going to be smooth sailing!

Keep us all posted. Can’t wait to see your 2 week-update!!

    Best,

    Mike

    • Hey Mike. Thanks for the comments.

Gratefully I’m through the chipmunk phase and my face is back to normal. Your comment about the shower couldn’t be more accurate. I just want to wash my hair haha!

So far things are looking good I think. Really looking forward to getting the stitches out.

I can’t wait to see your results, we had a similar procedure and yours is looking great. Grow hair grow!

      All the best!
