Day 70

So it’s day 70 now.  Time has flown by.  At this point I might be hallucinating but I think I am starting to see growth.  At the clinic they said growth wouldn’t start until month 3 but maybe my routine of vitamins, finasteride and rogaine sped it up a bit.  Regardless, I am not enjoying the “ugly” phase but I am excited to see what the next few months brings.  I don’t regret this decision at all.  It was not an easy decision but I had the stones to do it and I am very optimistic that I will be ecstatic when day 365 arrives.  Cheers!

Day 42

Patience is not a virtue that I possess.  I feel like a 5 year old waiting for Christmas morning that is a year away.  I had to buzz it down cuz it was looking goofy.  I kinda like it.  Numbness is still there at the hairline and the acne is as well, especially in the donor area.  All in all, I’ve healed well and no one can tell that I have had a procedure done.

Day 35

Everything seems to be going as expected at this point.  The redness and numbness in the recipient area and the tenderness of the donor area are decreasing with each week.  I am experiencing acne in both the recipient and donor areas.  I haven’t had acne in years so this is a little wierd but apparently normal for the recovery phase.  My original hair is growing in quickly and is beginning to cover up the recipient area (but not quick enough!)  The dandruff I had experienced has now subsided.

Day 28

Today is the first day of “normal”.  The baby shampoo is gone and I can use regular shampoo.  I opted for a product with biotin and collagen to help support the vitamins, etc that I am currently using.  I didn’t need to treat my scalp like a precious china doll any longer so I scrubbed a bit more aggressively this morning to get that deep down clean.  I quickly realized that my scalp was still tender in the donor area and somewhat in the recipient area.  At this point, I think most of the grafts have fallen out as expected.  That’s been a downer but, on the upside, the Canadiens swept the Lightning so all is good.  I’m back to work and the stares are a bit annoying but expected.  I had done a fairly good job of disquising my thinning hairline and this was a shock to most.  With each day, I’m sure it will get easier.  Cheers!
