Tell me a little bit about yourself?

I live in Ottawa. I am 35. I am a photographer.

What are your interests or hobbies?

I enjoy my work. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family. I like to run, bike and swim. I like traveling…well, at least from what I remember. It’s been too long.

How did hair loss make you feel?

My hair loss was pretty gradual. In my early twenties I noticed a change. As a kid I had a lot of hair – I went from a head full of hair to noticeably thinning hair. I suppose it was difficult. It definitely didn’t make me feel good.

How did hair loss impact your life – ego, relationships or career?

With time, I suppose I accepted it. Yes, my hair loss was bothering me a lot but obviously it wasn’t preventing me from doing everyday things. My hair loss wasn’t an overnight thing. I suppose time changes everything.

What made you decide to do something about it?

It just didn’t feel good. I was at a point in my life where I felt I could do something about it – and ultimately did.

Upon research I learned that technology in this field had significantly advanced. After seeing many different results (online), I noticed that when a hair transplant is done correctly, it goes undetected. This made me feel confident about going forward.

What was it that convinced you to go to Dr. Rahal for your hair transplant?

Initially, like many people, I learned about Dr. Rahal through the web. I visited many online hair loss forums and read many different blogs and reviews.

Everything was always (very) positive about Dr. Rahal. To my absolute surprise this same doctor that everyone was so fondly talking about was also in my city. I made an appointment, met him and felt 100% right that he was the one to perform my surgery after the initial consult.

How does it feel to have your hair back?

It feels nice.

Can anybody tell you’ve had a hair transplant?

Absolutely not! Someone asked if I dyed my hair (which I haven’t). I gather people notice a difference but just can’t make out what it is. It’s sort of funny.

At only nine months (since my surgery), I would say it’s still a little early to give an honest assessment, but things are definitely looking better. I feel good. I am definitely feeling much happier about my hair. One problem down, 99 more to go!

Was it worth it? What specifically has improved?

Yes, it was definitely worth it. Superficially speaking, apparently I look younger. Also, apparently I look “healthier” even though my health has not in any way changed. It’s amazing how much of a difference a little hair can make.

Patients have nicknamed Dr. Rahal “The Hairline King.” What do you think about that?

It’s a good nickname for him. I think it’s very appropriate. He definitely is the Hairline King!

Do you have any advice for someone else who’s considering a hair transplant?

Needless to say, I would advise anyone considering a hair transplant to do his or her research and get as much information prior to the big decision. There are many clinics out there, but very few that can do what Dr. Rahal does. He truly is the best.
